Ingredients and Quantity

Soft mutton (with bones) – 1 kilogram

for marination
Salt – 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder – 2 teaspoons
Kashmiri red chilli powder – 2 teaspoons
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam masala – 1 teaspoon
Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
Ginger-garlic paste- 1 tbsp
Curd (curd) – 4 tbsp

for curry
Mustard oil – 3 tbsp
Green cardamom – 4 pieces
Black Cardamom – 2 Nos.
Black pepper- 15 pieces
Cloves – 8 pieces
Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
Dry red chilli – 2 nos.
Onion (chopped) – 4 nos.
Coriander leaves (chopped) – 2 tbsp


1) Wash and strain the meat, add all the ingredients mentioned for marination. keep aside for 40 minutes
2) Heat mustard oil in a vessel, add all the whole spices mentioned for curry in it. Fry for 30 seconds.
3) Add chopped onion to it and fry until it turns light brown.
4) Add the marinated meat pieces along with the remaining water and mix well. Cover the lid and cook for 25 minutes until the mutton is cooked well.
5) If the consistency of the gravy is less then add more water.
6) Check the salt.
7) Finish by adding chopped coriander leaves.
8) Serve with rice or roti.
